Thoughts/.
I have just been thinking about the union and the promotion used in the current election campaigns (for uni things). People should really have good hard think about where their promotional materials are going when they are making them, they all blend into one brightly coloured mass. Stand out people! I know you all have pretty much the same policies but your posters don’t need to be the...

Struggle/.
AHh man, I am struggling for a question for my typography elective, just got an email through from my lecturer making it even harder. It’s not that I can’t think of one the problem is I can think of too many and now he has widened my thoughts by saying we can literally make it anything from making typefaces to discussing a single letter form. Might actually do one of the...

Times/.
Manchester was excellent. Ate some pasta. It was gooood. The hotel was awesome. Big windows and tiles and art deco shiz. Felt like Alice in Wonderland when I went to sleep. But best of all BANANA MUFFINS at breakfast! Also randomly stumbled on an Alan Fletcher exhibition. His neatly arranged bags of letters intrigued me no end, I wanted to throw them everywhere. Got lost, always freaks me out...
creativeblock.
Just read quite a nice article about how various designers/ artists overcome a creative block. Think my favourite was from Airside- set your alarm for 5am and either stay up and revel at the fact you’re up at 5am or go back to sleep and have mad dreams that might inspire you :) I don’t really know what I do to get rid of creative block, think I try and re inspire myself and have a...
YAYYYY/
OOOOH! Lovely stuff from Aj Fosik. In other news my new mac came today!! I am in love with it, I dunno why it took me sooo much long to actually get one but oh my god I love it more than bagels. Also it was pretty weird because I got it this morning then my typography lecture this afternoon contained loads of references to Macs, so have had a major mac infused day. SO yeah you should youtube the...

Pantsman.
Sorry it is so faint, something I printed up last week in my studio session. I am in love with these prints I am taking from newspapers, they are so delicate and lovely but I don’t really know how to move further with them. Urgh I feel a bit lost at the moment, I don’t know how to make my studio work move forward and all these un- timetabled seminars and group meetings are making me...

Sad Lobster.
I was having a wander around the Leeds City Art Gallery and came across Rachel Goodyear. I had seen some of her work at the Liverpool biennial last year but had completetly forgotten about her. Compared to the other wacky crap (okay a bit harsh) that was in there, I was drawn back to her simple illustrations, they remind me of the dark side of fairy tales. Which if you think about it are really...

That time
Finally went and got some film developed yesterday, it has been rolling round in my bag for oooh about 9 months oops. Was using my fisheye camera, it’s amazing how quickly using digital had wiped my knowledge of using film. Half the film didn’t actually come out since Aquariums are dark and you need light to make photos.. basic principles that went out the window, maybe I was too...
Rant.
Basically this rant stems from an article I just read on timesonline.com about the outrage over the NHS spending £12,000 of tax payers money on the branding of it’s 60th anniversary. Whether or not you think the NHS should be spending £12,000 promoting it’s 60th birthday is another discussion for another day, the main point I am trying to make is about the disregard society has for...
